Michael McGuire - Grid Variations

Michael McGuire - Asymmetrical Grid #3 - Acrylic Paint on Arches Watercolor Paper - 40 x 25.75 inches

Michael McGuire has been using the grid as an inspiration for years. One of his techniques for exploring variations in grids involves the computer. He will photograph an existing grid based drawing and then in Photoshop create multiple iterations of that grid. He works quickly and intuitively, making many versions, saving every step, and editing afterwards. If something strikes him as appealing he will then spend the time to execute the drawing.
