Wendy Kawabata is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her work engages in acts of the hand, using repetitive acts such as stacking, folding, hooking and wrapping. Her end result serves as a metaphor for the endless line of small but productive tasks that become the framework of communities in the face of larger, more powerful undoings.
