The Process

Michelle Peterson Albandoz transforms old wood into new and fresh art. But its one hell of a process!

The old wood is collected, sometimes over the course of years.

Each piece is cut multiple times to just the right size -- also known as "ripping".

After cutting they are painstakingly pieced back together to create her one-of-a-kind work.

To see more of Michelle's work, come to our next opening on the 31st to see her and Michael McGuire's two-person show!
The show will be up until July 12th.

Mold Master Jason

Jason Hawk is a master welder who has graced us with his elaborate and detailed metal sculptures.

In addition to being a crazy metal worker, he is also known as the mold master! Here he is working on some crazy molds.

Eric Gushee weaves a web of silver

Eric Gushee has shown his unique and spectacular sculptures with Las Manos and even installed a permanent installation in our courtyard.

However, his talents don't end there! Currently working on a large piece for Dock 6, a collective of designers opening this Friday at 4200 W Diversey. This large scale sculpture starts out as steal wire which is painstakingly unwound one by one, after a large number of wire is unwound they are woven into small patches which can be woven together to create larger shapes.
