No special event this weekend while the Andersonville neighborhood street fair taking place, but we will be in the gallery both Saturday and Sunday with AC and cool drinks. We are all deep in preparation for our upcoming show at Judith Racht Gallery in Michigan that opens July 2. In the meantime we will have small pieces and experiments on the wall to provide a bit of variety to our regular visitors.

Jose Rodriguez continues to make pieces inspired by the Picasso sculpture in Daley Plaza. Lately they have taken the form of base-reliefs constructed out of cardboard and various drawing media. I have five on hand and have framed a couple of them in ready made shadow boxes. I think they look very handsome and reference one of Chicagos best known landmarks in a fresh and sincere manner.

Brian Schutz continues to make his small architecturally derived models, but now using a very smart sense of color. He has discovered acrylic paint pens and the colors are vibrant. Brian plays with a color reversal from window to window.

Michelle has five small pieces in the gallery this week including this panel that owes much more to modernist painting than to her recent wood relief work.

Michael is pulling out every old thing he can find in the drawers including three small panels from last summer where he was experimenting with spray paint and washers.
